4th of July Barbecue Alternative - A One Man Show That Share the American Story

It’s great to celebrate the 4th of July with family and friends at a barbecue or at the beach but an alternative thing to do would be to experience something about the story of our nation. To understand why we cherish our 4th of July ritual and reflect on why American is so special and why our American story is unique.

I chose to write 'The American Soldier' because I genuinely believe that it's our responsibility to learn about the sacrifice so many have made and continue to make for all of us. The Fourth of July is not a red or blue celebration, it's an American celebration. We have and have had every race, gender, and religion fighting and dying together under one flag.

I will be performing my Off-Broadway One man show THE AMERICAN SOLDIER in Granbury, Texas on July 1st and July 2nd. My play is based on real stories and factual accounts from actual soldier and family member letters written from the American Revolution all the way through current day Afghanistan.  It examines the internal struggles and problems that soldiers and their families face when returning home from combat.

It has been nominated for the prestigious Amnesty International Award and performed at Kennedy Center in 2016 and 2019, Off-Broadway, The Library of Congress, The American Legion’s National Headquarters, New York Federal Reserve Bank and in over 28 cities and 13 states. It also received 4 stars out of 5 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and has been featured in The Huffington Post, The Washington Post, Washington Times, US Veterans Magazine, Broadway World, Military Times, and Time Out to name a few.

“…definitely one of the five things you want to do this Memorial Weekend."

“…he honors our veterans in their own words…"

He was commissioned by the Library of Congress to write and perform his second solo show, An American Soldier’s Journey Home which commemorates the ending of the First World War.
